Industrial Designer
Job Summary
The Global Industrial Design team is responsible for elevating the customer experience across Comcast’s premium product offerings and numerous customer engagement moments, not only making our products look good, but easy to use. We look to create exceptional experiences that leave lasting impressions, improve daily lives and foster long-term customer relationships. The Industrial Design position will involve collaboration with Creative Directors as well as daily partnerships with product management and development leads as you drive the delivery of hardware devices that feature outstanding user experiences and elegant design aesthetics.Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
- This is a hands-on role designing future Comcast devices and experiences for multiple business units, including High Speed Data, Remotes, Accessories, Set Top Boxes, and Smart Home.
- In this role, you will help shape our products around user needs to create engaging and intuitive user interactions to deliver a world class customer experience..
- Apply form, proportion, and a high level of attention to detail to create products that are aesthetically and ergonomically pleasing and oversee their implementation with development teams and suppliers to final production.
- Work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop and execute a user-centered design process.
- Utilize user-centered design thinking to solve complex mechanical and ergonomic problems.
- Brainstorm with colleagues within and outside the Department, to establish and evaluate design concepts.
- Prepare sketches of ideas, detailed drawings, illustrations, renderings and 3D models.
- Present Industrial Design concepts in a well-articulated and convincing manner to diverse stakeholders, including Marketing, Engineering project teams, and top management.
- Research global design trends and competing products and recommend design solutions that differentiate Comcast’s products from those of competitors.
Skills needed:
- Passion for creating products that resonate with people emotionally
- Excellent verbal and visual communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Clearly and effectively present ideas, research findings, sketches, and other deliverables.
- Excellent freehand sketching and rapid visualization of product concepts.
- A keen sense of aesthetics, proportion, and form.
- Highly creative and able to strike a balance between customer experience, feasibility, and business requirements.
- Working knowledge of basic principles of user centered design and related tools.
- Working knowledge of digital industrial design tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Solidworks, ProE Creo, Keyshot, etc.)
- Working knowledge of hardware, UI, and app prototyping (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, Flash, etc.)
- Working knowledge of manufacturing process as related to consumer electronics.
Job Specification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in product design, industrial design, or equivalent work experience
- 0-3 years minimum experience in product development
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Highly ethical and strict accordance to confidentiality required of new product development.

Bachelor's Degree
