Job Summary

The VP of Public Policy develops and implements our advocacy strategy and works closely with third parties to advance our strategy. The position also closely works with the entire Government Affairs organization, including Federal, State, and Local Government Affairs, Federal Regulatory, and Legal to achieve our combined objectives. Additionally, the VP of Public Policy represents the company’s interests by meeting with government officials and participating in public speaking events. This role is also responsible for providing leadership and direction of research, development, planning, design, maintenance and implementation of policies and programs that enhance the organization's relations with the community, the public, governmental and regulatory authorities, shareholders and employees.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Identify emerging public policy issues particularly focused on innovation, market structure and competitive dynamics.

  • Perform research and analysis, and prepare succinct, high-quality, and engaging analysis to develop and support company’s public policy positions.

  • Work with legislative, regulatory, external affairs, and corporate communications teams to build creative public and opinion-leader support for the company’s positions.

  • Drives change transformation and strategy execution to achieve specific business results.

  • Participates with other top leaders to establish division/group/company-wide processes.

  • Creates business strategy to focus on strengths, competitive advantage and differentiation.

  • Develops long-term policy plans that impact the achievement of business results; recognizes profitability and revenue potential in business opportunities.

  • Work with internal and outside experts in economics, engineering, law, and other disciplines, and with trade associations, think tanks and academics to develop policy analysis and advocacy.

  • Engage company’s business units regarding public policy issues and market developments, and develop and execute comprehensive plans to address them.

  • Represent company at external events, including participation on expert panels and in events and activities with other thought leaders.

  • Incorporates broad knowledge to address complex, novel and critical issues. Demonstrates leadership versatility.

Professional Experience & Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree, or JD, and 5-10 years of public policy, market analysis, or business strategy experience. 

  • Wide-ranging substantive expertise and strong analytic skills in public policy, competitive and market dynamic issues affecting the communications, tech, and media sectors strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to write and speak clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences is essential.

  • Track record as a strong and effective leader and proven ability to collaborate with diverse, cross-functional teams to execute complex projects.

  • Proven track record using campaign techniques to build coalitions and work effectively with advocacy organizations and think tanks.

  • Excellent research and analytic skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product.

  • Approximately 10-20% travel.

Salary:

Primary Location Pay Range: $254,384.36 - $381,576.53

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later.



Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
