Job Summary
The Operations team at MachineQ (https://www.machineq.com/) provides general and technical assistance to all customers, spanning small start-ups to Fortune 100 enterprises. The team more broadly serves as a liaison between MachineQ internal resources (particularly Product, Engineering, and Sales teams) and our customers, ensuring successful deployment of the company’s enterprise IoT platform. The MachineQ Operations team is responsible for delivering end-to-end project management and professional field services for the installation and maintenance of MachineQ infrastructure. These projects can encompass thousands of gateways and hundreds of thousands of devices. The team also oversees customer support, solutions delivery, and supply chain and logistics for the company. Job Description The Field Deployment Technical Project Management role will serve on the MachineQ Operations team, assuming responsibility for management and growth of our IoT Deployment Services practice. The Operations team has a track record of delivering MachineQ IoT hardware, software and solutions with unprecedented scale and velocity to our largest customers. The team oversees all deployment planning from customer engagement, pre-sales, and project design/architecture through field execution at scale and post-install support. The capability to not only enable IoT solutions, but bring them to life by rapidly deploying across diverse use cases, customer environments, and industries – is a key value-add for our clients and a unique differentiator for MachineQ in the IoT space. The Field Deployment Technical Project Management role will assume core responsibilities for the day-to-day function and delivery of our professional services for one or more customers, and other responsibilities relevant to the successful delivery of large-scale IoT implementations. The core duties of the role will include end-to-end design, project management and successful delivery of one or more large-scale IoT deployments of MachineQ gateways and devices or third-party solutions. This position will lead initial diligence, project planning and tracking/reporting, resource and capacity forecasting, training, hardware and inventory management, day-of-job field resource coordination and quality control, documentation and training, and post-install testing and project closeout. Demonstrable experience managing complex installations and roll-outs of infrastructure, technology products, construction, utilities and/or wireless solutions is highly preferred. This team member is also responsible for quickly achieving fluency across MachineQ’s underlying technologies, operational toolsets, features, and product portfolio. Developing a deep familiarity with MachineQ technologies and products should be combined with an analytical, data-driven mindset and a polished, professional approach to interactions with clients and internal stakeholders across all levels of the organization alike. This position requires an autonomous and self-starter approach, with critical thinking and superb attention to detail being key requirements for success. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to learn quickly and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment, while growing and managing a strong-performing team.Job Description
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage existing and develop new relationships with third party-vendors used for field installation services.
- Create, update, and implement training materials across field technicians and vendor project management, customer support representatives, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee day-to-day field and deployment operations, tracking velocity against schedule, managing deviation from plan, evaluating hardware strategy and inventory movements, escalations, cancels and reschedules, and governing overall project continuity.
- Coordinate scoping, design and architecture review activities for initiated projects and oversee comprehensive implementation planning from pre-sale through delivery and close-out.
- Take ownership of project success criteria and efficiency, making key decisions across vendor management, technician resources, deployment strategy and design, hardware and logistics optimization, risk mitigation, and unique scenario planning.
- Create and track end-to-end project plans in conjunction with the broader Operations team. Track tasks and milestones across all parties, including vendors.
- Make project scheduling and design decisions in conjunction with internal teams, vendors, partners and customers.
- Own all tracking of metrics and project statuses, including development and presentation of formal reporting to internal leadership and customers.
- Identify and manage critical path and risk areas and create risk response and mitigation plans.
- Work with other team members to track and manage inter-project dependencies.
- Communicate updates on major milestones, escalations and status across all levels of the organization and externally with customers and their leadership.
- Manage within budgetary objectives set by manager, monitoring and controlling costs within functional area.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Additional responsibilities include:
- End-to-end design, project management and successful delivery of one or more large-scale IoT deployments across MachineQ products and technologies, including initial diligence, project planning and tracking/reporting, resource and capacity forecasting, training, hardware and inventory management, day-of-job field resource coordination and quality control, documentation and training, and post-install testing and project closeout.
- Overseeing day-to-day functions of the MachineQ IoT Deployment Services team, including growing the team with appropriate skill sets and capacity as required to meet demand, quality control, bi-directional escalations, (re)scheduling, and communications.
- Serving as a MachineQ Subject Matter Expert and primary interface across internal and external stakeholders alike, including customers, internal professional services teams, suppliers, logistics providers, systems integrators, and other third parties.
- Managing existing vendor and technician partner relationships and performance, as well as onboarding and maintaining new resources as required to execute projects in the geographies dictated by our customers.
