Job Summary
Who we are: The Global Devices Organization is responsible for managing and developing device strategy and product roadmaps for all Comcast and Sky devices. Our charter as a team is to develop and deploy devices that enhance our customers' in-home WiFi experience. As a Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in defining the future of the in-home Wi-Fi experience. This will involve working with industry silicon providers and other internal stakeholders to collaborate on desired features and functionality for our customers. The importance of broadband connectivity has become increasingly apparent, and we are looking for a dynamic individual to join our team.Job Description
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to:
- Serve as a product manager and drive key broadband initiatives to deployment.
- Drive and ensure alignment with all product stakeholders regarding product specifications and objectives.
- Stay current on the technology and market trends; forecast opportunities and threats to our businesses.
- Perform competitive research and analyses and keep the rest of the team abreast through industry/competitive/technology briefs.
- Contribute to the product vision across the team and the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define and lead product roadmaps and deliver on them.
- Define requirements for new products, features, and use cases; define acceptance criteria for each.
- Assist with the development of business cases for new features.
- Coordinate closely with engineering and program leads to ensure alignment between technical, business, and field teams on product features and releases.
- Collaborate with business units to ensure a go-to-market strategy is defined and in place before a new device launch.
- Keep track of product performance through data collection and analysis
Required Skills:
- Technical Understanding: A solid grasp of the underlying technology behind the physical device, including hardware components, firmware, industrial design, manufacturing processes. Must have a fundamental understanding of various networking technologies including: WiFi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and various IoT standards.
- User Empathy: The ability to deeply understand and document user needs in the form of use cases. This includes friction and pain points and behaviors through user research and feedback.
- Data Analysis Proficiency: The skill to collect, analyze, and interpret data from various sources (usage patterns, market trends, customer feedback) to inform product strategy, prioritize features, and define metrics that must be measured for success.
- Problem-Solving Agility: The capacity to creatively identify and tackle complex technical challenges that may arise during product development, while considering both feasibility and user experience.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Clear and concise communication is vital to effectively convey product vision, requirements, and updates to cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, marketing, and leadership.
Nice to Have:
- Design Thinking: A strong grasp of user-centered design principles to create intuitive and user-friendly experiences for physical interactions with the device.
- Sourcing and Vendor Management: Ability to identify and manage relationships with suppliers for hardware components, ensuring quality and delivery timelines.
- System Architecture:Ability to grasp complex system interactions within the device and its ecosystem, including software, firmware, and hardware components.
- Regulatory and Standards Body Compliance:Awareness of relevant industry regulations and standards related to product certification, safety, quality, and environmental considerations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related technical field.
- Experience in product management, design, or development, preferably within a technical industry
- Passion to build an outstanding customer experience with technology that connects people
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
