Job Summary

Primarily responsible for contributing to the identification, documentation, and communication of new or complex transactions and emerging accounting standards related to key accounting topics within Comcast. This role supports an enterprise-wide understanding of risks, systems, controls, areas of judgment, and accounting policies associated with these topics.

Core Responsibilities

Technical Responsibilities

  • Consult with business units and external auditors on technical accounting matters and support the application and development of accounting policies.
  • Review contracts and identify related accounting issues.
  • Contribute to discussions of accounting issues in a manner that demonstrates a deep understanding of relevant U.S. GAAP.
  • Prepare and support the review of documentation for identified accounting issues, including both technical and operational considerations, for management and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor, research, and identify proposed accounting standards and guidance (e.g., FASB, EITF, SEC, and PCAOB).
  • Support the development and delivery of presentations and training for management and staff on new accounting standards.

Risk Assessment and Monitoring Responsibilities

  • Perform risk assessments through process walkthroughs, inquiry, and data analysis.
  • Support the development and maintenance of a comprehensive internal control testing plan.
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls and provide recommendations to mitigate risk and enhance value.
  • Support coordination of assigned internal control testing activities, ensuring procedures are appropriate, executed effectively, and documented clearly with well-supported and organized workpapers.
  • Communicate findings to management and support presentations to executive leadership, demonstrating a strong understanding of risks, processes, and controls within the relevant accounting area.
  • Monitor changes in the business environment and identify emerging risks.
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members.
  • Exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Contribute ideas and recommendations to enhance processes and procedures.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Experience with technical accounting research and internal control design, implementation, or testing preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SOX, SEC guidance, and the COSO framework.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Certifications (if applicable)

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required.

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
