Job Summary

As part of the DevX domain, the PACE team ties together "paved paths" that allow integrated platforms to be built and deployed using shared platforms and services. As part of this organization, the PACE team provides metadata driven data platforms, tying together code generation, database, cloud engineering and CI/CD platforms. The PACE platform utilizes cutting-edge technologies and cloud-based deployment systems to provide CI/CD, metrics aggregation, API routing and automatic failover etc. along with implementations of authentication, logging, and transaction tracing.

Job Description

This role is based in our downtown Philadelphia Comcast Technology Center. We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role now or in the future.

As a level 3 Engineer on the XSP Core Team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and enhancement of various PACE Platform components. You will be handling client support on specific days, helping to identify and resolve various issues. You will be expected to work independently on specific components of the platform and contribute to the drive for innovation and expansion of the platform's capabilities through research and evaluation of new technologies and their potential within the PACE architecture.

Core Responsibilities

• Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
• Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Assists with the software update process for existing applications and roll-outs of software releases.
• Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
• Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
• Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
• Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers.
• Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
• Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
• Displays in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
• Displays knowledge of and ability to apply, project management skills.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

5+ years of Software Engineering experience including:

• Java programming language and design patterns
• Spring Framework/Spring Boot
• NodeJS / Handlebars templating language
• JavaScript programming language and JSON structure
• REST-based API design and development
• Agile project management processes
• Unit testing frameworks
• RCS systems
• Linux experience
• Shell Scripting
• SSH2 and Telnet
• Knowledge of CI/CD automation systems (Concourse/Github Actions preferred)

Preference for applicants who also have the following:

• HTML5+ / CSS4 Spec Modules
• GraphQL
• Single Page Application Design with React
• Experience with AWS (S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, KMS, Cloud formation) or certification
• Experience with Docker containers
• Specific Concourse CI/CD experience
• NodeJS server development experience
• Experience with Angular or ReactJS frontend application development
• Cloud Technologies (Public/Private)
• Monitoring/Alerting of production systems
• Some prior system/API/framework design experience
