Job Summary
The Manager, Control Room Operations oversees the planning, coordination, and execution of live event production operations. This role manages control room staffing, scheduling, payroll administration, contracts, budget support, rehearsals, and production logistics to ensure seamless, high-quality live events. As a key operational leader, this position bridges creative vision with technical and administrative execution, supporting efficient workflows, strong cross-department collaboration, and exceptional fan experiences in fast-paced live environments.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
Control Room Operations & Staffing
- Develop and manage staffing plans for games, rehearsals, and special events
- Schedule and coordinate full-time staff, freelancers, and contracted technical crews
- Assign crews across video, audio, replay, graphics, lighting, playback, engineering, and stage management
- Maintain labor tracking, staffing databases, and availability records
Payroll, Contracts & Administration
- Oversee payroll tracking and reporting for production staff and technical crews
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of hours, invoices, and documentation
- Administer production contracts, vendor agreements, and freelancer paperwork
- Partner with Finance, HR, Legal, and Procurement to ensure compliance and accuracy
Rehearsals & Production Readiness
- Plan and oversee rehearsals for games, ceremonies, entertainment acts, and special events
- Coordinate logistics with technical crews, performers, event operations, and venue teams
- Lead production walkthroughs and readiness meetings to ensure live execution preparedness
Team Leadership
- Supervise game presentation coordinators, production assistants, and control room personnel
- Establish clear workflows, expectations, and accountability
- Foster a collaborative, professional, and solutions-oriented production culture
Live Event Execution & Collaboration
- Support live control room and event presentation operations during games and special events
- Partner with Marketing, Partnerships, Entertainment, Venue Operations, Broadcast, and external vendors
- Support integration of sponsored elements and production enhancements
Qualifications
Required
- 5–7 years of experience in live event production, control room operations, or event presentation
- Proven experience managing production staff, schedules, budgets, and live workflows
- Strong understanding of control room operations and technical crew coordination
- Demonstrated leadership in fast-paced, live production environments
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and extended event hours
- Professional sports, collegiate athletics, arena entertainment, or broadcast experience
- Experience with freelancers, union crews, and external vendors
- Familiarity with scheduling, payroll, and budgeting systems
