Job Summary

Corp Legal Systems Director plays a leading role in driving best practices relative to legal systems and processes. This role partners with and influences key stakeholders to design, deliver, and maintain our legal system platforms. This role develops and executes the strategic direction, deployment, and usage of legal systems. This role oversees the prioritization and planning for enhancements and support of legal systems related technologies. This includes but not limited to ensuring projects are within budget and meet the business commitments. This Director role provides leadership and direction for multiple parallel initiatives impacting many cross-functional stakeholders. This role is an important interface and accountable leader working between non-technical legal stakeholders and IT regarding business requirements, design, project delivery, and support relating to legal systems and processes. The Corp Legal Systems Director is primarily responsible for Comcast Corporate Legal, but is expected to actively engage working with cross-functional leaders across all levels within Comcast Cable, Spectacor, NBCU, and Sky.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • Exercises portfolio management and solid project management skills, including developing project plans and budgets, identifying dependencies across activities, synchronizing deliverables across cross-functional teams, clearly defining roles and responsibilities, executing per plan, keeping leadership abreast of status, and developing solutions / recommendations on issues for leadership consideration
  • Manages overarching capacity planning to ensure resources are properly allocated to design, build, test, execute and support all activities as it relates to legal systems
  • Provides leadership for developing platform strategies, solutions, and related roadmap, collaborating with and managing the relationship with key diverse stakeholders across both business and IT
  • Leads the evaluation of new business/technology solutions
  • Responsible for analyzing and coordinating requirements and scope across multiple business functions by facilitating cross-functional meetings to determine requirements, establish a common understanding of expectations, align priorities, clarify conflicts, and analyze impact to process and systems
  • Collaborates with IT in technical design and requirements, acting as liaison between non-technical users and programmers / architects, in resolving issues and addressing any questions and/or challenges
  • Documents and tests system enhancements, and ensures production support readiness and resolution of any defects, and plays an active role in related project rollout, training and communication
  • Monitors, escalates, and communicates all changes to agreed deliverables.
  • Responsible for ensuring data integrity and stable production support for the legal systems
  • Leads development and meeting of departmental budget; this includes evaluating costs, risks and benefits of alternative solutions before making recommendations
  • Proven ability to deal with ambiguity, learn and understand new business areas quickly, and visualize related processes
  • Creates graphical reports and clear / well-organized executive presentations
  • Assists other team members with analysis, presentations, and other documentation to ensure they are clear, complete, and well-organized
  • Offers management oversight, review, and guidance to the department team members including recruitment, staffing, development plans, recommended learning, mentoring, etc.
  • Consistently exercises independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Supports department objectives and performs other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

  • Utilizes creative thinking, individual initiative, and flexibility in prioritizing and completing tasks
  • Exhibits willingness to tackle new areas and challenging topics
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a complex, dynamic, and fast-paced environment.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, motivation, and follow-up to less experienced team members on work completion and performance, as well as ensuring timely and quality delivery of project deliverables
  • Provides coaching, guidance, and development on interactions with business management and stakeholders.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement to team activities, tools, and training
  • Transparently keeps management informed of status / important issues as they arise
  • Acts in accordance with company policies and practices, and maintains the highest degree of integrity in all activities and interactions
  • Exhibits a commitment to continuously self-improve by working with management to leverage strengths and focus on areas of development
  • Displays regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), as necessary. Out-of-town travel may be required at up to approximately 20%.
