Director, Agile Portfolio/Program Management
Job Summary
Director, Agile Program management and Delivery position oversees and drives the end-to-end delivery, ensuring they meet business objectives, completed on time, and within budget. This role will be a strategic partner to one of the domains with accountability for the delivery and agile capabilities within your aligned domain in the IXT Organization. This role involves mentoring PMs, SMs, teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality solutions aligned with business needs and technical standards. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders and senior leadership to ensure project quality and value delivery, address project status inquiries, contribute to portfolio strategy, and resolve issues. A strong focus is placed on maintaining regular reporting cadences and visibility and transparency on delivery progress.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
- Leads a high performing global team of Technical Program Managers, Technical Project Managers, Scum Masters with the required leadership, influence and analytical skills.
- Implements' strategies to attract, retain, empower and develop talent in their organization.
- Mentor, coach project managers & teams to achieve their full potential.
- Identify skill gaps within the team and recommend training or upskilling initiatives.
- Serve as an escalation for impediment removal for the Scrum Masters and agile teams.
- Key contributor to the Agile Center of Excellence, which functions as a community of practice to facilitate collaboration and standard methodology sharing while mentoring different agile roles.
- Serving as a SME for Agile methodologies, defining consistent delivery metrics, dashboards and/or information to enable effective decision-making.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Reporting:
- Maintain a regular cadence for reporting
- Leads senior executive readouts about program status, risks, changes, escalations
- Provide actionable insights to leadership, stakeholders on project progress, risks, and opportunities..
- Implement automation and best practices to reduce delivery timelines and overhead costs.
- Act as the bridge between business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation plans to ensure uninterrupted delivery.
- Proactively resolve conflicts and remove roadblocks/Impediments.
Delivery:
- Ensure software development follows Agile or hybrid methodologies, delivering in iterative cycles.
- Ensure adherence to best practices.
- Facilitate sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Accountable and Responsible for project execution and delivery based on defined Project Delivery Management framework. Ensures quality of deliverables.
- Collaborate across other technology portfolios, excellent communication and relationship management skills to influence and resolve issues.
- Oversee final product delivery and ensure alignment with business needs and user expectations.
Other Responsibilities
- Strong facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills, with the ability to inspire and influence individuals and teams towards Agile ways of working.
- Strong skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
- Knowledge of other Agile approaches/techniques: XP, Kanban, SAFe, TDD/BDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Agile Games.
- Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, PowerBI, Tableau, Smartsheet.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Executes and oversees PMO processes. Oversees program budgets.
- Develops cross-functional plans, objectives and strategies. Interprets company goals into functional goals and strategies.
- Provides leadership and management to the Program Management team. Possesses staffing accountability, including recruitment and retention, leadership and professional development and performance management.
- Provides support for corporate budgeting and budget tracking.
- Acts as a PMO point of contact for senior management stakeholders.
- Mentors the organization in PMO practices.
- Recommends and implements corrective action across organizations, as necessary, to improve program performance.
- Responsible for PMO training, hiring, performance management and development of PMO staff. Performs staff performance assessments, salary reviews and bonus awards. Establishes PMO career path.
- Works with other organizations to continuously improve business processes.
- Fosters a business-oriented culture and approach driven by continuous improvement techniques.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Keeps abreast of new developments in project management methodologies, agile practices, best practices and industry standards.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Ability to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as vital.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
