Job Summary
The Counsel, Commercial Services, will be responsible for providing legal support, with a focus on sales-side contracting, for Comcast Business’s State, Local and Federal government channels. This role will report to the Assistant Deputy General Counsel.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide legal counsel and support to one or more groups within Comcast Business, including its State, Local and Federal government channels. Counsel on a broad range of legal issues relating to assigned area(s).
- End-to-end support of State and Local Government Channel sales, including (i) RFI and RFP review, (ii) managing protest process, (iii) draft, review, and negotiate customer agreements, (iv) resolving customer disputes, (iv) managing and negotiating applicable partner agreements and (v) addressing post-contractual matters.
- The primary focus of the role will be to support the State and Local government channel but will also entail providing legal support for the Comcast Business federal division, including, but not limited to, assisting on RFP reviews and providing legal support for awarded opportunities.
- Provide guidance on new and developing products and services.
- Engage and direct outside counsel to undertake specific and complex work requiring application of highly specialized legal knowledge.
- Provide leadership in one or more legal specialties and disseminate information on trends and innovations within the specialty.
- Lead and provide guidance to legal staff including junior Attorneys, Paralegals, Contract Specialists, and administrative staff, as required.

- Maintain regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Education & Experience Requirements:
- JD degree from a top tier law school with strong academic credentials.
- Licensed in one US jurisdiction and active membership in good standing in a state bar.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in managing, drafting and negotiating complex commercial and/or government transactions.
- Experience with government contracting and the telecommunications, media, technology, software, or any innovative business-to-business sales industry is preferred.
- Excellent negotiating, drafting, problem solving and communications skills.
- Ability to work effectively with senior management and operations personnel, simultaneously manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines with consistently high-quality work product.
- Law firm and in-house experience preferred.
