Job Summary

The Chief Data Officer (CDO) is a Sr Vice President at Comcast and is responsible for overseeing the organization's data strategy, governance, and operations. This senior level executive is deeply involved in developing and implementing a comprehensive data governance framework, ensuring data integrity, privacy, and security, and driving the strategic use of data to support business objectives. The CDO will lead the data platform technology strategy, manage data privacy operations, and oversee the design and maintenance of data warehouses and data lakes.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Data Platform Technology Strategy and Operations:

  • Develop and execute a strategic data technology roadmap that aligns with the organization's goals

  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and management of enterprise-wide data platforms and infrastructure.

  • Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and recommending suitable adoption strategies.

Data Governance and Privacy Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework to ensure data integrity, privacy, and security across the organization.

  • Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures to drive consistency and compliance.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define data strategies and align data initiatives with business objectives.

Privacy Data Operations:

  • Ensure end-to-end accountability and visibility of personal identifiable data and sensitive information.

  • Establish processes to track and monitor the usage, access control, and lifecycle management of personal data.

  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to privacy laws and regulations.

Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Data Platform Engineering:

  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data warehouse and data lake infrastructure.

  • Lead the data platform engineering team in building scalable and reliable data platforms.

  • Optimize data pipelines, ensure data quality, and implement effective data integration strategies.

Enterprise Data Architecture:

  • Develop and maintain the enterprise data architecture to support AI and Business Intelligence needs.

  • Ensure end-to-end accountability and visibility of data assets.

  • Oversee the reuse of data across data warehouses and data lakes.

Integration with AI

  • Leverage AI technologies to drive effectiveness and cost efficiencies across data governance, privacy operations and data operations.

  • Architect data solutions that enable easy consumption of data by AI solutions 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a senior data management role, preferably as a Chief Data Officer or similar.

  • Strong understanding of data governance, privacy regulations, and data security best practices.

  • Experience with data platform technologies, data warehousing, and data lake infrastructure.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

  • A natural change agent. Combines emotional intelligence with interpersonal skills to establish trust and lead change. 

  • Values relationships to optimize change management and develop new organizational models. 

  • Acts as thought leader when needed to shape new opportunities and able to let others take the lead without disengaging. 

  • Leads with authenticity, openness and is not afraid of taking calculated risks.

  • Passionate about creating high performing teams. 

  • Is motivated by achievement in the face of obstacles and always aims to make the company better.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the telecommunications or technology industry.

  • Advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
