Role Description

Job Summary

This key role would be responsible for coordinating and tracking multiple Backbone team programs in support of NEXUS Network Engineering for Unified Services organization.

The projects can be of various degrees of complexity and will include coordination of numerous groups and departments, critical thinking and problem solving. Responsible for the technical program management activities and alignment for strategic programs, coordinating among a wide range of cross-functional internal and external resources to ensure that programs are within the scope, within budget and on schedule, with guidance from senior staff member(s). Serve as the program lead for specific, defined multi-discipline technical programs or projects of greater than average complexity and scope. Responsible and accountable in the planning, development and delivery of new technical programs. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and sharesexpertise.

Core Responsibilities

  • Understands the scope of the Backbone programs as defined by the product and business requirements and the budget process. Participates in the key planning of milestones. Uses specific knowledge about one or more technical areas to research, plan, communicate and achieve objectives through program/project team.

  • Identifies, confirms and obtains participation from required cross-functional teams. Works with the other team members and initiatives effectively.

  • Builds program plans and program record. Works with the core team to identify and schedule all the work required to fulfill program scope, including identification and management of critical path tasks. Identifies and manages program critical paths.

  • Facilitates the development of key goals, objectives and success criteria for the program using specific knowledge about one or more technical areas to research, plan, communicate and achieve objectives through program/project team.

  • Supports the budget and resource forecasting exercises.

  • Analyzes areas of risk to avoid risky activities by identifying and managing critical paths and risk areas. Establishes contingency plans and identifies trigger events and assumes responsibility for initiation corrective actions. Escalates early to appropriate levels.

  • Works with leadership and core team members to help identify and assist in making program tradeoffs to balance scope, time and costs while developing resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity. Ensures proper documentation.

  • Tracks and manages the program schedule and upstream and downstream dependencies. Analyzes the actual performance against the plan and makes adjustments consistent with plan objectives. Develops resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity. Oversees the team as they plan, track and execute project plans from start to completion.

  • Communicates updates on major milestones and keeps all stakeholders informed of progress and issues. Identifies and manages proposed changes to technical program parameters and works with management to ensure appropriate processes and communications are followed.

  • Monitors and ensures quality of program deliverables. Works with core team and key field resources to develop and monitor deployment schedule, strategies and tools to support the implementation of programs in the field through trials and controlled customer deployments.

  • Consistent exercise of independent and collaborative judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate complex technical programs and ensure alignment across engineering, product, and business units.

  • Support risk management efforts by identifying critical path tasks, analyzing potential bottlenecks, and contributing to contingency planning.

  • Assist in tracking program performance using data analysis tools, helping to forecast budgets and resource needs.

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of technical documentation and stakeholder communications to ensure transparency and alignment.

  • Participate in the planning and execution of deployment strategies, including trial phases and controlled customer rollouts.

  • Gain hands-on experience balancing scope, time, and cost while solving real-world problems with creativity and collaboration.

  • Learn to navigate program trade-offs and escalate issues effectively to support timely and successful project delivery.

  • Support large-scale network infrastructure projects (e.g., Backbone Program) by helping manage timelines, dependencies, and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Improve internal program efficiency by coordinating across engineering, finance, and product teams to align goals and streamline execution.

  • Enable data-driven decision-making by analyzing program performance metrics and assisting with budget and resource forecasting.

  • Contribute to successful product rollouts such as new streaming features, smart home integrations, or Wi-Fi advancements by supporting deployment planning and field feedback collection.

  • Enhance customer experience indirectly by ensuring timely delivery of high-quality technical upgrades that improve service reliability and speed.

  • Bring fresh, innovative thinking to complex challenges by offering creative solutions and participating in trade-off discussions.

  • Strengthen communication and transparency by maintaining clear documentation and preparing stakeholder updates across multiple teams.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop and manage Backbone portfolio program plans including program-level timelines, deliverables, and dependencies​

  • Drive execution of key deliverables in program plans ​

  • Work cross-functionally with key leaders and team members in Core Network Engineering, Nat’l Capacity and Deployment Services, Finance and others​

  • Host meetings to gather updates​

  • Ensure timely escalations to leadership

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Proficient in both verbal and written communication, Smartsheet, Stakeholder Management, Task Management, Program Management, Project Management, Detail Oriented, Organized

  • Preferred Majors: Project Management, Business Administration

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track.

  • Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting March 30, 2026, through September 18, 2026.

  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs

  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting
