Job Summary

Responsible for leading or supporting the environment, health and safety (EHS) business function for an area of a region, or leads EHS programs at multiple facilities. Responsible for managing the administration of occupational safety, accident prevention and industrial hygiene. Plans, organizes, implements, measures and evaluates corporate performance and programs which maximize safety/industrial hygiene objectives. Oversees compliance with legal requirements affecting these programs. Counsels management on the application of sound safety and industrial hygiene principles and practices in support of corporate objectives. May manage a team including exempt and non-exempt employees. Provides subject matter guidance to employees as required. Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies. Assists in development and meeting of departmental budget. *This position office will be based in Concord or Livermore.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities
Program and Policy Development
Contributes to and reviews internal EHS Standards.
Consults, analyzes, and recommends safe work methods to senior management relative to current and new programs relative to new and current EHS programs.
Supports special projects (e.g., related to sustainability or other topics) under the direction of EHS leadership.
Program Implementation
Implements and administers EHS Programs to align with regional, divisional and CHQ goals.
Supports personnel with health and safety programs including: office and field ergonomics support, wellness programs, indoor air quality, electrical safety, OSHA 300A logs and postings and other programs, as needed.
Supports the development of EHS training programs in areas such as fire prevention and emergency response, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, spill control and countermeasure, DOT shipping, as well as operational training on the implementation of EHS programs.
Assists in promoting, facilitating, and deploying: AED/CPR/first aid training, and Doctor on Demand, and distracted driving programs.
Supports locations with environmental program implementation, training and assessment, in areas including, but not limited to, spill prevention and control, EPCRA, air emissions and permitting, waste and recycling management, hazardous material storage, and hazardous material shipping.
Manages annual EHS program to ensure compliance objectives are met within their footprint.
Elevates need for environment, health and safety equipment to HQ for approval to maintain and improve the company's EHS programs.
Supports EHS Management Systems (consistent with ISO 14001 and 45001).
Inputs and reviews data in MyEHS. May also function as MyEHS SME.
Collaboration and Internal Reporting
Works closely with and/or under the direction of the EHS leadership on implementing programs that drive consistency and improvement. This includes active participation on region or division EHS planning teams, participation and/or leadership of specific assigned projects, and active engagement with other regional peers.
Coordinates and communicates with other business functions within their footprint (e.g., Tech Ops, Care, HR, Learning and Development, IT, Fleet etc.).
Prepares materials for and conducts EHS meetings for employees, leaders and work groups, using metrics and data from company databases.
Leads EHS committees to improve the effectiveness of safety processes.
Personnel Management
Coaches/mentors direct reports as applicable, including providing guidance on professional development, performing annual performance reviews of direct reports, and coordinating with other EHS managers on reviews in their organization.
Works with employees to ensure tools and equipment minimize risks to employee health and safety.
Supports the development of a diverse workforce within the EHS organization.
Provide oversight and coordination with outside consultants on projects.
Subject Matter Expertise
Researches applicable local, state and federal regulations.
Supports Division or Corporate EHS projects as a team member or subject matter expert.
Assessments and Investigations
Performs on-site EHS compliance assessments to evaluate program implementation and effectiveness.
Supervises the performance of on-site inspections to audit physical conditions for safe work practices and environmental compliance.
Conducts field safety observations (FSO) on technicians and ride-outs with supervisors while they are performing FSOs. Coaches supervisors and other managers on improving their coaching skills and on technical aspects of the FSO.
Investigates or arranges for all accidents and near-misses to be investigated. Prepares report of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence.
Proactively identifies risks, opportunities, and corrective action for safety or environmental improvement.
Maintains EHS performance and accident statistics, analyzes trends, and recommends remedial action, where necessary.
Leads or participates in the investigation of any significant incident in their footprint. May interact directly with OSHA, EPA, or other regulatory agencies. Supports Legal in Workers’ Compensation inspections.
Personal Judgment
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Schedule and Travel
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
Occasional travel to internal corporate, divisional, and regional meetings and external training and conferences within the US (up to 50% travel). Significant travel required within the Region.

Salary:

Primary Location Pay Range: $106,262.67 - $159,394.01

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later.
