Job Summary
Responsible for validating product quality by analyzing and testing the quality of the code base. Focuses on writing code that will be executed in an automated and repeatable fashion which will reduce manual testing efforts and increase code quality and consistency. Develops and maintains code that validates front-end, middleware and database systems, using the latest tools and programming languages. Provides input into various software development lifecycle stages. Partners with software engineers to write efficient automation code using coding standards and best practices. Reports test execution results to senior leadership. Repairs complex broken automation scripts and performs peer reviews of automation codebase. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.Job Description
Position: Software Development & Test Engineer 4
Experience: 8 years to 12 years
Job Location: Chennai Tamil Nadu
What you'll bring:
·You should be passionate about delivering a great customer experience, driving innovation, and delivering successful migration programs.
·A proven track record of successful delivery projects, who has been the Testing Lead or Testing Manager for complex Projects or Programs, who has worked with a team size of 20+ staff in a cross geographical and cross functional work environment
·Willing to help and coach their team, to interact with them and to support them for the professional growth. Has experience in asset and/or organization set-up and growth.
·Deep exposure on Testing methodology and the various testing stages
·A strong background across cloud computing (private & public cloud), mobile technologies, and OSS Good understanding of Agile practices and hands-on on JIRA.
·SAFe or SCRUM/Agile knowledge or certification preferred
·Working experience on Agile project framework
·Industry experience of 10+ years working in an IT or Telecom organization,
What you'll do:
- Provide ownership of the quality assurance and testing strategy as part of the broader risk based Product Development approach.
- Provide documented test strategy
- Plan, manage and report on all aspects of Product Development Testing in line with testing standards and processes
- Provide alignment and oversight of Sanity Testing during Development
- Ensure Feature Level Testing is completed to meet development timescales
- System Integration Testing is performed as per the components being affected
- Ensure E2E Workflow Testing is completed in line with the wider product development approach
- Provide ownership of User Acceptance Testing (UAT) driving the planning and completion
- Ensure the is sufficient Regression Testing in place as part of the broader risk based Product Development approach
- As per our test strategy any Prep-Prod requirements and testing are performed
- Where required as per aligned delivery plan, provide testing ownership for Pilot Test / operational readiness testing (ORT)
- Ensure the design and exection of Functional testing is in place, identifying defects, alerting the business stakeholders and helping prioritise them based on defect serverity.
- Ensure we have in place required Non-functional testing to provide qualatitive assurance to the business helping to prioritise on a risk based approach.
- Determine and facilitate the required Test Automation that optimises the quality assurance and testing strategy as part of a broader risk based approach.
- Provide Testing resource capacity forecasts are in place to meet required demand.
- Provide ownership to identify, collate and get approval of Test scope
- Ensure production and approval of Test Plans, Test Cases and Test Schedules.
- Ensure test representation is involved as required in project planning, requirement scope
- Ensure required Testing participation in Design Reviews and Handovers
- Ensure creation of Testing artefacts in line with Test Rail standards.
- Coordination of resource required to prepare Test environments and data.
- Provide identification and approvals of various Entry and Exit criteria for Testing stages
- Ensure documentation of the test activities and preparation of the results are in place
- Provide sufficient reporting of progress to varying levels of stakeholders throughout the programme.
- Ensure testing support in the triage of defects and issues.
Core Responsibilities
- Write and edit complex, automated test code, using the same standards as a Software Engineer, that allows for repeatable, reliable testing solutions to test the wide functionality of products and software in accordance with specifications and technical requirements, maintaining automation codebase in a version control system (GIT, SVN). This may include creating complex SQL queries for validation of databases and writing SOAP and RESTful API automated scripts.
- Build new tools to assist in faster test automation and functional testing efforts and innovate on existing automation processes.
- Serve as a guide and mentor for junior-level engineers. Provides technical leadership and consultation with regards to practices, procedures and techniques.
- Review project progress, evaluates results and recommends corrections in technical applications and analysis to executive teams.
- Perform code reviews of automation scripts and front-end codebases.
- Work closely with Test Engineers and Development teams to build test script hooks that help in earlier and easier testing.
- Analyze broken test cases and diagnose and repair to working order.
- Diagnose and repair complex bugs within production code.
- Drive scrum meetings as Scrum Master, perform backlog grooming and sprint planning.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
