Quality and Automation Engineer 2
Job Summary
The SDET Level 2 is responsible for ensuring high product quality through a combination of manual and automated testing practices. This role focuses on designing, developing, executing, and maintaining scalable and reliable automation frameworks using Python and Playwright, while also contributing significantly to test planning, test case design, and requirement analysis. The ideal candidate will work closely with product owners, developers, and stakeholders to understand requirements early, define effective testing strategies (smoke, sanity, regression), and reduce manual effort through automation. The role requires repairing and enhancing existing automation scripts, validating web and mobile applications, and producing clear test documentation and reports with moderate guidance.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
1. Test Planning & Requirement Analysis
- Participate in requirement gathering and analysis to identify test scope, risks, and dependencies.
- Prepare detailed test plans, test strategies, and test scenarios aligned with business and technical requirements.
- Define appropriate testing approaches including smoke, sanity, regression, and end-to-end testing.
2. Manual Testing
- Design and execute comprehensive manual test cases for functional, UI, and integration testing.
- Perform exploratory and edge-case testing to uncover hidden defects.
- Validate business workflows across web and mobile applications.
3. Automation Testing (Python & Playwright)
- Develop, enhance, and maintain automation scripts using Python and Playwright for web applications.
- Design reusable, maintainable automation components following coding standards and best practices.
- Identify suitable test cases for automation and ensure optimal automation coverage.
- Debug, analyze, and repair broken or flaky automation scripts of intermediate complexity.
- Experience in interactive Tableau dashboards and automated report refreshes using Python.
4. Regression, Smoke & Sanity Testing
- Execute smoke and sanity tests for build validation.
- Perform regression testing to ensure existing functionality remains unaffected by new changes.
- Ensure automated regression suites are stable, repeatable, and reliable.
5. Defect Management & Reporting
- Identify, log, track, and manage defects using JIRA or similar tools.
- Collaborate with developers to ensure timely defect resolution and effective root cause analysis.
- Provide test execution reports, defect metrics, and test summary reports to stakeholders.
6. Test Environment & CI Support
- Assist in setting up and maintaining test environments for manual and automated testing.
- Support integration of automation suites into CI/CD pipelines (where applicable).
- Maintain automation codebase using version control systems such as Git.
7. Collaboration & Agile Practices
- Work closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts throughout the SDLC.
- Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and frameworks.

- Write and maintain automated test code with the same discipline and quality standards as production code.
- Execute automated test suites and analyze results to ensure product quality.
- Diagnose automation failures and restore scripts to working condition.
- Assist in defining and improving test strategies to support evolving product needs.
- Create and maintain testing documentation including test plans, test cases, and test reports.
- Exercise independent judgment in test execution and defect assessment with moderate guidance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in QA engineering with a balance of manual and automation testing.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and Playwright for test automation.
- Solid understanding of software testing fundamentals, SDLC, and STLC.
- Experience in test case design, defect tracking, and test reporting using JIRA.
- Familiarity with web and mobile application testing.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with CI/CD tools and integrating automated tests into pipelines.
- Basic knowledge of API testing and backend validations. (Automation + POSTMAN Validation)
- Experience with test data management and environment coordination.
- Exposure to cross-browser and cross-device testing strategies.
- Knowledge of performance or security testing concepts is a plus.
