Manager - Engineering Operations
Job Summary
Responsible for the overall performance of financial operations by achieving operational compliance, adherence to budgets and reinforcing strategic direction in daily operations. Ensures compliance with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies and procedures. Promotes a customer-driven service culture. Acts as a champion through continued focus on proactively identifying and addressing processes impacting engineering. Manages a team which may include exempt and non-exempt employees. Serves as subject matter expert and provides guidance to employees as required.Job Description
Job Summary:
Manager of the Reliability Residential Engineering Incident Management team. This position will lead the team and is responsible for the following activities:
Provide leadership and direct a team of Engineers in the triage/troubleshooting of Video/Xfinity Home products/HSD /Gateway Modem devices for both RDK & Legacy
Taking part in the Change Control process to ensure that any software system changes meet documentation and testing standards before they are deployed, and engaging all appropriate resources to troubleshoot operational issues
Provide technical solutions to operational problems, mitigate and identify root cause
Trending and monitoring FW deploys to ensure stability
Working with Engineering, QA and Incident Managers to identify and address issues, gaps and remediate high-severity incidents
In-take for new hardware, products and services
Working with team members to ensure the correct SOP’s and triage documents are created and maintained
Training & mentoring of new and junior team members
Oversee and administration of Unix / Linux systems, and relational database management systems
Incident, Problem and Change ticket management usingIOP, JIRA, etc.
Utilize SVN, GIT, Apache MVN, Ruby, Python, Perl, Bash, scripting, automation, tools development, to contribute to the implementation of new residential, commercial or opensource products and services
Use SQL Developer, Splunk, Tableau, Haystack, Datadog, etc. to trend and model data to identify issues.
Travel as required
Work is performed in a 24/7 operations environment and must be available to work weekends and holidays on an on-call basis. This position will interface with internal groups such as the Comcast Technology Solutions, Broadband CPE HW Development, Broadband CPE SW/FW Development, Quality Assurance, CPE Security, CPE Engineering, XH Engineering, Program Management and various technical operations teams to ensure the products and services meet our requirements.
Qualifications
Strong Communication Skills
Associates degree in Computer Science or Engineering is required.
Bachelor's degree (preferred).
12+ years network engineering / operations experience or has demonstrated aptitude to perform at this level
12+ years Broadband CPE for Cable/MSOs
Home security or ZigBee experience is a plus.
Technical knowledge of design, development and certification for the following:WiFi experience (802.11 standards / features), DOCSIS, EPON/DPOE HW/SW, Voice PacketCable 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 (IMS/NCS), Software/Firmware Development process
