Job Summary

The CMDB Data Analysts role is crucial to ensure data is consistently and accurately synchronized between CMDB source and target systems. This is essential for ensuring asset data is reliable, secure, and easily accessible to support business operations, recovery & impact, and critical decision-making.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for CMDB Data Issues and Reviewing Manually inputted data like Application Records
  • Ensure that manually submitted data meets the platform data quality standards and working with the person(s) submitting the information to ensure compliance
  • Resolve ServiceNow Tickets related to the above
  • Maintain current and accurate data documentation around maintaining the CMDB data quality
  • Defining and maintaining data quality checks against the CMDB through sustainability models or processes by enabling system audit practices and conducting audits to ensure data integrity and quality
  • Communicate errors in configuration data quickly and to the relevant stakeholders, where applicable provide solutions to correct
  • Basic understanding of ITAM principles around Hardware and Software asset management processes and practices as it interacts with the CMDB as well as supporting the needs of the organization in these specific areas as the requirements and solutions mature, as defined by the line manager
  • Ability to develop reports both manually and within ServiceNow for various stakeholders
  • Reconcile the CMDB data when exceptions are noted between CMDB, discovery information, and other authoritative production data repositories
  • Managing the submission and tracking of data updates
  • Assist with the testing and validation of new functionality, system upgrades or patching, and bulk data loads as it pertains to the CMDB
  • Identify and recommend process and procedure improvements
  • Communicate CMDB activities to enhance general awareness of changes or enhancements to configuration processes and standards
  • Follow up with Data or Application Owners to ensure compliance with Data or Audit Policies as directed
  • Create and maintain process documentation and job aids for stake holders interacting within the CMDB
  • Other Data Quality & Analytics Activities as identified
  • REQUIREMENTS & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow components such as Configuration, Change, and incident
  • Hands-on Experience with creating and maintaining ServiceNow Reports & Dashboards
  • Experience implementing and managing CMDB solutions
  • Experience in asset and configuration item identification, baseline definition, relationship mapping, CMDB administration and IT acquisition processes
  • Success in fast paced and dynamic environments
  • Strong understanding of ITSM processes
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow CSDM
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables and basic excel formulas (V-lookup, etc.)
  • Excellent writing skills for generating clear, concise notes and documentation
  • Strong analytical capabilities to proactively solve problems facing the organization
  • Ability to work independently on a project of varying complexity
  • Experience and understanding of IT infrastructure inventory, applications, and technology operations
  • Ability to understand and articulate challenges and risks into cohesive problem statements

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
