Engineering Manager
Job Summary
Responsible for leading a team of Software Development Engineers in the planning and designing of software and web applications. Manages projects from design to testing, including new programs, enhancements and modifications. Collaborates with Quality Assurance team to conduct testing. Has overall responsibility for developing/administering performance standards for organizational unit. Manages team which may include exempt and non-exempt employees. Provides subject matter guidance to employees as required. Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies and assists in the development and meeting of departmental budget.Job Description
Core Responsibilities
- Act as a key contributor in ensuring the delivery ofhigh-quality, scalable, and reliable DOCSIS/PON-based applications.
- Collaborate remotely with the Harmonic team, chief engineering teams, and manual QA teams to gather test requirements and translate them into automated test cases.
- Design, develop, and maintainPython-based test automation scriptsleveraging internal automation frameworks.
- Lead or contribute to the development and enhancement ofmodular, scalable automation frameworksthat support both functional and integration testing.
- Manage operational quality and contribute to theCore Virtualization projectby applying robust testing methodologies and practices.
- Troubleshoot complex system issues through strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, integrate QA into DevOps pipelines, and ensure ashift-left approachto testing.
- Operate in afast-paced, collaborative environment, actively mentoring junior team members and promoting best practices in QA.
Employees at all levels are expected to:
- Strong hands-on Python programmingskills – must be able to design and develop complex automation logic and frameworks.
- Experience working withUbuntu/Linux environmentsand comfort with CLI-based tools and scripting.
- Proficiency with test tools such asIxia,ByteBlower, and generaltraffic simulation platforms.
- Solid understanding ofnetworking concepts, including switching, routing, and network protocols (e.g., TCP, UDP, BGP, ISIS, HTTP/S, multicast).
- Experience withKubernetes, Docker, and containerized test environments.
- Ability to analyze packet captures, simulate network conditions, and validate end-to-end performance.
- Familiarity withCI/CD toolslike Jenkins, GitLab CI, and version control using Git.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical issues and solutions with internal and external stakeholders.
