Job Summary
Responsible for translating code into user-friendly applications. Collaborates with internal teams to develop functional mobile applications while working in a fast-paced environment. Develops application programming interfaces (APIs) to support mobile functionality while keeping up to date with terminology, concepts and best practices for coding mobile apps. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource for colleagues with less experience.Job Description

Location: Chennai

Skills & Experience
Core Android Expertise
- 5+ years of experience developing native Android applications in production environments.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin, including Coroutines and modern Android development patterns.
- Experience with Jetpack Compose in production applications.
- Solid understanding of Android fundamentals: Activities, Services, Intents, BroadcastReceivers, ContentProviders, and UI components.
- Experience with MVVM or similar architectural patterns.
Concurrency, Performance & Tooling
- Strong understanding of multi-threading and concurrency, including Coroutines and structured concurrency.
- Hands-on experience with performance profiling tools (Android Profiler, LeakCanary).
- Experience debugging and troubleshooting using ADB and Android Studio.
- Familiarity with network debugging tools such as Charles Proxy or Android Network Profiler.
Media & Networking
- Working knowledge of DASH/HLS streaming protocols.
- Experience integrating REST APIs, handling JSON payloads, and understanding REST concepts.
- Experience with GraphQL is a plus.
AI & Automation
- Proficient in integrating AI-assisted development workflows into mobile engineering processes, including code generation, refactoring, test creation, and documentation using tools such as GitHub Copilot, M365 Copilot, or equivalent.
- Experience leveraging LLM‑driven API design tools (e.g., OpenSpec) to define interfaces, generate stubs, validate schema consistency, and automate downstream client/server code generation.
- Ability to evaluate and apply AI-based tools for improving developer productivity, including static analysis, UI generation, performance tuning, and test coverage expansion.
- Familiarity with model-driven development workflows, using AI to translate product requirements into engineering artifacts (design docs, acceptance tests, mobile UI flows).
- Comfort operating in an AI-augmented development environment, including prompt engineering, validation of AI-generated output, and enforcing quality gates to ensure correctness and maintainability.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate mobile apps with AI-backed services, such as on-device ML frameworks, cloud inference APIs, semantic search, or conversational interfaces.
Engineering Practices & DevOps
- Strong command of Git, including collaborative workflows, branching strategies, and pull requests.
- Experience writing unit and UI tests (JUnit, Espresso, Mockito, Robolectric).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and release processes.
- Exposure to DevOps/SRE practices such as monitoring, incident response, and performance observability is a plus.
Collaboration & Communication
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey complex technical topics clearly.
- Proven experience working cross-functionally with Product, UX, QA, and platform teams.
- Comfortable operating in multi-team, multi-vendor environments with evolving requirements.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience building consumer-facing apps at scale (sports, media, streaming, ticketing, or live events).
- Familiarity with Jetpack libraries, dependency injection frameworks (e.g., Dagger/Hilt).
- Experience with device capabilities such as location, Bluetooth, or notifications.
- Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and contributing to a strong engineering culture.
Core Responsibilities
Plan and design mobile software including writing, analyzing, and testing
Android/IOS software code.
Deliver documentation on the software development and implementation process.
Design new software, supports applications under development, designs the prototype application and customizes current applications.
Assist with the software update process for existing applications, and roll-outs of software releases.
Build native mobile applications with an understanding of accessibility, localization, and offline needs.
Create, maintain, and implement the source code that makes up the application or program.
Develop and conduct routine maintenance on code to validate front-end, middleware, and database systems.
Communicate with others to repair broken automation scripts and ensure delivery of quality solutions.
Conduct testing, releasing and support of the application.
Research and analyze technical references to obtain knowledge and gain exposure on the latest developments in technology.
Research, write, and edit documentation and technical requirements, including software design evaluation plans, test results, and technical documentation.
Work with the Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements .
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
