Job Summary
The Unified Communications Engineering team is looking for an enthusiastic Network Automation Engineer with a passion for building and optimizing secure, reliable, scalable, and robust systems. As part of this role, you will be working with the development and operations teams to administrate inventory management, fleet-wide audits, server security updates and certificate renewal. This role also will include exposure to implementing and integrating CI/CD processes. Additionally, this role will include operational control of data visualization, data as a service (DaaS), metrics as a service (MaaS) and sustaining accurate server back-up storage and retention. Job Responsibilities:
Inventory management and scripting audits for OS config management.
Scripting of audits of back-up storage and retaining a stable back up with the last 24 hours.
Fleet wide certificate management and execution.
Assist in design, deployment, and management of scalable fault tolerance of services and applications.
Deploy updates to applications, services and systems as required and support integration when necessary.
Troubleshoot issues related to DevOps, staging and production deployments, performance, and scalability.
Install and manage container orchestration software and repositories.
Stay current with industry trends and source new ways to improve our business.
Creates and maintains documentation for the process and tools used by the team.
Skillsets:
Experience administrating Linux & Linux applications.
Experience with operating system support (OS Installs/upgrades, package installs, server security)
Experienced with server security basics (sshd, iptables/firewalld, certificates, ciphers)
Experienced in basic networking concepts and protocols (NTP, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs, Firewall/ACL)
Experience with ticketing and reporting tool (GitHub, Confluence)
Experience with monitoring tools (SNMP, Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka, ELK, etc.)
Excellent troubleshooting skills (how to read logs, use packet capture, step through a problem)
Excellent documentation and communication skills (trouble ticket updates, documenting fixes/changes)
Technical expertise in deploying, managing, and operating scalable, highly available, and fault tolerant systems such as Redhat virtualization, Openstack, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
Experience with configuration management and automation tools like tools like Ansible.
Python/bash/scripting languages is a + but not required.
Core Responsibilities
- Drives issues through closure engaging all appropriate resources. Leads technical bridges and provides troubleshooting direction. Provides guidance and recommended solutions to complex technical issues.
- Acts as an advocate for Engineering Operations procedures, policies and processes. Ensures projects are fully integrated into the operations environment including lifecycle problem management from front line CARE through Engineering.
- Creates data and metric systems to track operational workflows; maintains records of results and feedback. Analyzes data and metrics, identifies problem areas and provides actionable insight to management.
- Provides input to Engineering and vendors on defects and required enhancements. Attains all relevant industry standard technical certifications.
- Performs complex and routine maintenance tests for designated areas of engineering. Identifies, isolates and escalates issues to appropriate personnel. Ensures that all maintenance is properly validated to minimize subscriber impact to (ideally) zero.
- Contributes to design considerations for new products or architectural changes to existing products. Assists with or leads efforts to build new application infrastructure, coordinating efforts across teams.
- Analyses problems in design, configuration, data flow and data state within a highly complex multi-product provisioning system.
- Serves as team lead on multiple projects, often spanning different engineering disciplines within the organization.
- Leads the integration of projects into operations including instrumentation, automation, standardization and methods/procedures.
- Does not have any direct supervisory responsibilities. May direct workflow and act as a technical lead.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

Bachelor's Degree
