Job Description
DUTIES: Provide technical leadership in designing and developing new software and web applications; write, clean and maintain code in Kotlin for Android Applications; write code using MVVM Architecture for scalable and testable UI design; develop software architecture using core Android components including Activity, Fragment, ViewModel, LiveData, StateFlow, WorkManager, DataStorage, Navigation Component, Dagger (Dependency Injection) using Hilt and Anvil, Flows, Jetpack Compose, Services, Broadcast Receivers Database storage and retrieval; utilize memory management to correct errors with multithreading; consume REST APIs using Retrofit or OkHttp; write and interpret GraphQL schemas; use Git for version control; develop Android applications using Java, Coroutines, and CoroutineWorker; complete unit testing using Junit, Mockito, and Roboelectric; build CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Jenkins; perform UI design using Android Studio; manage queries using SQLite; develop software in an Agile development environment; perform customer-facing mobile, web, and voice application development for Comcast’s Home Security, Home Network Management and Internet of Things product offerings; write hands on code for mobile components and libraries; lead and drive conversations on technical architecture; influence the Xfinity Android app architecture; design and develop new mobile device software; support applications under development and customize current applications; assist with the software update process for existing applications, and roll-outs of software releases; analyze, test, and assist with the integration of new applications; document all development activity; research, write, and edit documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals, and formal recommendations and reports; monitor and evaluate competitive applications and products; review literature, patents, and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects; collaborate with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements; conduct analysis to determine integration needs; work with the Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements; and guide and mentor junior-level engineers. Position is eligible to work remotely one or more days per week, per company policy.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, and five (5) years of experience developing Android applications using Kotlin and Android SDK; writing code using MVVM Architecture for scalable and testable UI design; developing software architecture using core Android components including Activity, Fragment, ViewModel, LiveData, StateFlow, WorkManager, DataStorage, Navigation Component, Dagger (Dependency Injection) using Hilt and Anvil, Flows, Jetpack Compose, Services, Broadcast Receivers Database storage and retrieval; using Git for version control; of which three (3) years include developing Android applications using Java, Coroutines, and CoroutineWorker; and utilizing memory management to correct errors with multithreading; consuming REST APIs using Retrofit or OkHttp; performing queries using GraphQL performing unit testing using Junit, Mockito, and Roboelectric; building CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Jenkins; performing UI design using Android Studio; querying using SQLite; and developing software in an Agile development environment.
