The Sr. Engineer (Engineer 4)performs solution development, architecture and designs for new services and product solutions for the commercialcommunications products.
The role involves supportingthe roadmap and direction of product and business requirements and creation ofsolution architectures, technical requirements, configurations, detailed systems and network designs. Partnering with otherproduct management, engineering and systems organizations to define and drive architecture roadmaps, detailed solution designs and vendor/internal deliverables and plans to meet solution delivery.
This position will have an emphasis on UCaaS/ CPaaStechnologies– for multiple business focused applications and services including video and audio conferencing, presence, messaging, SMS, collaboration, contact center and other real-time communications and API driven integrations acrossall business segments from small-medium, mid-market and enterprise.This will include design, development and integration for internally developed applications at Comcast as well as integration with other third-partyUC industry providers.
Additional areas of expertise includestrong industry experience in Cloud technologies, Voice over IP, SIP, IP and data networking, Product and Software Development lifecycle, virtualization, automation, DevOps and CI/CD methodologies, security and operational tools.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as aSr. Product Engineer forUC solutions and designs - including architecture, prototyping, detailed designs, protocols, operational excellence, testing, network integration, deployment
Identifies and recommends areas requiring enhancements or modification
Performs complex and routine updates for UCproducts
Drive vendor excellence and operational support
Interface with product teams;review new product/service requests and applications to define technical requirements
Translate business and operational requirements to technical requirements; design, prototype, implement
Lead other Comcast organizations to define operational models and tools to be used to monitor and maintain the security vulnerabilities of new and existing voice services and product offerings
Design strategic solutions to sustain product long term; growth, scale and resiliency
Provide preventative measures to ensure uptime and optimal performance of the UC environment
Maintain an understanding of market and product developments and external standards to understand their use and applicability to new service concepts
Author and maintain Detailed Design Documents
Participate, contribute and drive industry standards in relevant technology areas
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to deal with complexity and high-pressure situations and effective decision making
Excellent communicator, able to analyze and clearly articulate complex issues and technologies
Senior level experience in communications through managing, designing, and implementing enterprise and carrier level scale VoIP network environments with a focus on Cisco, Microsoft, and Poly voice and video technologies
Proven design and problem-solving skills
Experience with IP networking (QoS techniques, routing, security protocols)
Experience with UC collaboration applications, features, and presence
Demonstrated UC and VoIP protocol interworking and debugging technicalissues
Must be familiar with voice, data, and equipment engineering technologies and have an advanced knowledge of telecommunications equipment, terminology, and standard practices and procedures
Must possess a high degree of self-motivation and have a demonstrated history of independent decision-making
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS (Experience and capabilities must have; Essential to begin job):
Minimum 8years of experience in building or operating voice and unified communications products in large scale networks
Strong experience and knowledge ofUnified Communications, SIPand VoIP technologies
Strong knowledge of industry products and relevant standards and ability to lead their implementation and adapt them to Comcast

- Partners with Engineering project Manager to provide consultative direction and Develops long term objectives and plans to determine resources, technology and course of action to achieve results.
- Works with Other members of cross
- functional teams, joint ventures, third party vendors and Company’s product managers and marketing teams to deliver quality products, in a timely fashion, that meet defined requirements. Establishes and maintains working relationships within NE&to, product development teams, joint ventures, vendors and contractors.
- Participates in Company product lifecycle process. contributes to and/or Creates product and technical requirements, detailed design Documents including transaction, capacity and bandwidth models, systems definitions, and operational procedures as part of this process.
- Understands key business drivers and Applies the knowledge of internal/external business issues to improve products and services.
- Anticipates and Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions.
- Ensures that projects are properly accepted into the Engineering team, worked on in a timely and efficient manner and smoothly transitioned into quality assurance and operations teams.
- Interprets internal/external business issues and recommends complete solutions based on best practices and Proven technologies.
