The New York-based Senior Manager, Advisory Services will be responsible for the design and delivery of consulting engagements for FreeWheel's media clients and prospects. This person will be part of FreeWheel's growing Advisory Services team who are responsible for supporting premium publishers and distributors with practical, actionable recommendations that deliver tangible results designed with one objective in mind: to make their professional content business more profitable.

  • Design and lead transformational business improvement projects with leading media companies, pay-TV operators and online publishers

  • Own client relationships, pitch new engagements and managing Advisory Services teams to drive client outcomes

  • Have direct managerial responsibility (career development, staffing and mentorship) for 2-3 junior team members (Data Scientists and Associates)

  • Manage the development and enhancement of data-driven consulting solutions; recommending new business models for how Advisory Services can deliver value through FreeWheel's expansive dataset

  • Lead teams to mine FreeWheel's extensive 1st part dataset to drive actionable and executive-level insight around key business decisions (eg. user experience, sales strategy, distribution/partnership models etc)

  • Help set overall direction for the Advisory Services team (e.g., proposing new offerings) and participate as a subject matter expert at industry events and in FreeWheel strategic discussions with clients and partners

  • Working with FreeWheel Sales, Engineering and Product teams to deliver recommendations that wrap around our core technology offerings

  • Finding out what drives you and doing that (there are many opportunities to take on new responsibilities at FreeWheel)


  • Over 6 years' experience with a top management consulting firm, ideally with exposure to media, communications or tech clients, or with over 8 years of experience at a media/technology company in a strategy/business development role

  • Significant experience managing junior team members, both on projects covering quantitative analysis, org design / workflow and exec level strategy

  • Strong background in quantitative analytics (e.g., Excel, SQL, other database tools) and statistics a genuine love for numbers and excitement around solving problems with data is required

  • Ability to independently structure and build presentations at all levels of insight, e.g., executive level strategy, workflow structure and pain-point identification, in-depth data readouts

  • Self-starter who is able to manage client delivery from engagement design through execution, and can comfortably navigate ambiguous environments

  • General understanding and passion for the online video business, the TV and cable industry and the challenges facing both the industry, content owners and distributors

  • Able to operate comfortably across different client disciplines from Ad Operations, Sales, Editorial, Technology, Finance and Corporate Strategy

  • Ability to learn new ideas and systems quickly and translate them into concrete outputs related to the business

  • Possess the leadership skills and 'executive presence' necessary to work with large and complex clients

  • Ability to manage yourself against a robust workload with multiple concurrent projects and tight deadlines

  • Superb verbal and written communication skills

  • Periodic travel will be required. Up to 20%.

  • BA/BS degree from a top school

  • MBA strongly preferred
